Wallop is a new type of social networking site combined with a marketplace for buying and selling graphical effects called Wallop Mods for your profile. At Wallop we believe the next wave is all about self expression online similar to the ways we express ourselves in the real world by purchasing clothes, decorating a room or wearing jewelry. While Wallop is great for communicating with your friends, it is also a rich platform for Flash designers and content creators to develop Mods and make money doing it. We make it easy for you to design and create Mods that allow people to express themselves!
Wallop Modder Network
The Wallop Modder Network is your central place for information about creating, uploading and selling Wallop Mods. It’s easy to start creating content for your Wallop marketplace account. Upload your existing Flash .swf’s or create new Flash content based on the Wallop API: we provide help and samples to get you started. Read more about the Wallop and the WMN below.
Wallop Mods
Mods are small Flash-based interactive elements that empower people to express themselves online. Mod functionality can range from interactive backgrounds, animations, mouse toys, games, mini-applications, to completely new types of social software. Because Wallop uses Flash, designers have a huge amount of flexibility to add functional, interactive, or decorative elements. Flash is the most portable rich media platform for the web and is fully supported by the three leading browsers – Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. Flash has many advantages: it’s specifically designed for the web, is easy to learn, allows full interactivity, and gives you full control over your content’s security.
Creating Flash Mods for Wallop!
To produce content for Wallop you must be a Macromedia Flash designer, animator or developer (you can use other applications as long as they produce .swf files). Although we encourage everyone to take full advantage of the complete Wallop feature set, there are different categories of content that can be uploaded to the Wallop marketplace.
- Interactive and Animated
This category of Flash .swf files can be interactive, fun, viral and animated but do not make use of Wallop's social networking servers. These are stand-alone .swf files that do not communicate via scripting to the Wallop servers but can still be very fun and viral.

- Social Applications
Flash .swf files can use ActionScript and the Wallop API (WAPI) to create content that is more integrated with Wallop. Using ActionScript these Flash files communicate with the Wallop servers to access features of the social network, providing a richer experience to Wallop users. Social Mods might includea moving montage of pictures from your network of friends, or a personalized greeting card composer.

We provide a complete suite of tools to make developing for Wallop easy: once a Macromedia Flash .swf file has been created it's simple to uploaded to the Wallop servers for testing. Once a Mod has been approved it can be made available to the entire Wallop user base.
Wallop API
Some Mods will utilize the Wallop API (WAPI). The WAPI is a set of ActionScript classes and functions for use in the Macromedia Flash authoring tool. Using the WAPI is optional: you can create Wallop content without any scripts or coding. If you are familiar with ActionScript, you can incorporate the WAPI as part of your .swf to enable multi-user and social network interaction. We are making this WAPI available to designers who want to create Mods that are decorative in nature or interact directly with Wallop’s unique social networking feature set.
Marketplace
Once your Mods are uploaded and approved they appear in your personal marketplace account where users can easily find and purchase them. Use our set of tools to promote and sell your Mods, or get creative and market through the channels of your choice. Create offers for your Mods, package them together in a group or sell them one at a time. Adjusting the price and offer is entirely in your hands.

Wallop provides numerous areas of support. Once you are a member of the Wallop Modders Network you will have access to online technical help and a support forum. We strive to give you the best support as we want to enable the Modders Network to fully take advantage of creating content for our very unique social networking platform.
